Born in 1989 in Erding, Bavaria, Sara Nuru has established a successful career as a model and TV presenter. Her first break came when she was spotted as a 15 year old on the Kaufingerstrasse in Munich by a scout. Sara became known to a wider audience when she won the fourth season of “Germany’s Next Top Model”.
Sara is the brand ambassador for Lascana. Her advertising portfolio also includes campaigns for McDonald’s, Reebok, C&A, Dallmayr, Motorola, Sony Ericson, Lufthansa and Maybelline Jade. She featured on the covers of well-known German and international magazines including Cosmopolitan and Shape, and has made catwalk appearances for Laurel, Guido Maria Kretschmer, Gant, Cesar Galindo NY, Custo Barcelona and Roberto Cavalli.
Her television credits include a travel magazine show and she has also hosted live events including the Academy Awards for ProSiebenSat.1 and the Elite Model Look competition in Switzerland and in Germany.
Sara has enjoyed a long and active association with Karlheinz Boehm’s Ethiopian aid project “Menschen für Menschen”, becoming the ambassador for their educational programme “Generation ABC – 2015” in 2009. One of four sisters, she lives in Munich and Berlin, and speaks German, English, Arabic and Amharic.
The daughter of Ethiopian parents, Sara Nuru has been an enthusiastic and active supporter of the Karlheinz Boehm Ethiopian aid project “Menschen für Menschen” since 2009. She has travelled to schools throughout Germany to fundraise for Boehm’s educational programme “Generation ABC – 2015”. Her efforts have raised 290,000 euros for the construction of the Sara Nuru school, which she opened in December 2012 on her third visit to Ethiopia. To date, the Sara Nuru school has given 1,100 students access to education and the chance for a better future. Her work in this area continues. Sara is completely committed to providing the indispensable opportunities that education offers to children. A second school is already under construction with a third in the pipeline.
